Two young members of Moor Hall Hotel & Spa's team achieved gold medals at the prestigious International Salon Culinaire competition in London in March.
International Salon Culinaire aims to highlight and promote the amazing talent within the UK hospitality industry and raise the bar in culinary skills year after year. It is a platform for seasoned chefs to showcase their talent and nurture the chefs of the future starting out in their career.
The competition took place in ExCel London in March 2022 at the Hotel, Restaurant & Catering event. The competition line up included over 100 different competition classes including some new live competitions which reflect the changes in today's hospitality sector, such as the emergence of home meal kits and apprentice challenge.
Mia McLaren and Luke Flaherty entered the competition and took home the gold medal for their categories. Mia won gold for her flambé work and Luke won gold for the award "Butcher a Whole Chicken for Sauté".
Mark Medley, General Manager at Moor Hall Hotel & Spa commented: " We are extremely proud of our close relationship with UCB and Hive College who we have been working with for a number of years. We have been delighted to be able to offer both apprenticeships and work placements for a number of students."
Well done both! Luke and Mia are pictured below with Moor Hall's Sous Chef Andy and Operations Manager Javier.
