Earth Day 2026
Embedding Sustainability in Heritage Hospitality
At Webb Hotel Group, sustainability isn’t something we’ve recently adopted, it’s something we’ve grown into.
As a family owned hospitality business approaching 65 years of ownership, caring for our environment has always been part of how we operate. But like many heritage hotel groups, we’ve had to balance that commitment with a unique challenge: how do you make older, characterful buildings more sustainable without losing what makes them special?
This Earth Day, we’re reflecting on how we’re doing exactly that.
Small Steps, Big Impact
We believe meaningful change doesn’t always come from one big action, but from many thoughtful ones.
We’ve introduced a range of initiatives that together are making a real difference:
- Biomass boilers reducing reliance on fossil fuels
- Solar panels generating renewable energy on-site
- Electric vehicle charging points supporting greener travel
- Voltage optimisation technology improving energy efficiency
- Energy monitoring systems helping us better understand and manage usage
Alongside this, structured energy planning and compliance frameworks like ESOS have helped us move from reactive improvements to a more strategic, data led approach.
Sustainability Starts with People
Real, lasting change happens when people are involved and that’s why we’ve worked hard to make sustainability part of our work culture.
Our internal Green Teams bring sustainability to life across each site, empowering teams to take ownership and turn ideas into action.
We also work closely with suppliers who share our values ensuring our approach is consistent not just internally, but across everything we do.

Looking Ahead
Our journey is ongoing.
After three years as members of Sustainability West Midlands, we continue to learn, adapt, and improve. We're always looking for ways to do better while staying true to who we are.
Because for us, sustainability isn’t about quick wins or box-ticking.
It’s about long term thinking, practical action, and evolving responsibly.
This Earth Day, Our Commitment Continues
We’re proud of the steps we’ve taken, but we know there’s always more to do.
By balancing heritage with innovation, and ambition with practicality, we’re working towards a more sustainable future for our guests, our teams, and our communities.
