This month we’re focusing on the plank, a simple but challenging exercise designed to build core strength, stability, and control.
The plank is a fantastic full-body exercise that engages your core while also working your shoulders, arms, glutes, and legs. Holding your body in a strong, stable position helps improve posture, balance, and the strength needed for everyday movements.
Whether you’re new to planks or looking to challenge yourself, there are plenty of variations to try. This month, we’re focusing on three different versions to help build strength and control.
1. Cross-Leg Plank
Lower yourself onto your forearms, keeping your elbows underneath your shoulders and your body in a straight line. Cross one leg over the other, keeping your core engaged and hips as level as possible. Hold the position, then switch legs.
2. Forearm Plank
Lower yourself onto your forearms, keeping your elbows directly underneath your shoulders. Extend your legs behind you and balance on your toes. Keep your body in a straight line from your head to your heels, engage your core, and hold the position.
3. Extended Arm Plank
Begin in a high plank with your arms fully extended and hands positioned underneath your shoulders. Keep your legs straight and balance on your toes. Engage your core, squeeze your glutes, and maintain a strong, straight body position throughout.
That’s why the Plank is our Exercise of the Month.
