When Emma Lines and Warren Henley-Hunter went to their very first Wedding Open Day, little did they know they would fall in love all over again, but this time, with Moor Hall! Here Emma, 31, tells us about her unforgettable wedding.
Why did you choose Moor Hall Hotel & Spa?
Emma says: “Our decision was based on one main reason - the service of the staff. It was one of the first venues we visited and was set up beautifully for a wedding open day.
We must have looked a bit lost as a member of staff asked if we needed help and we asked where the bridal suite was in relation to the main room.
He then took it upon himself to give us a full tour of the hotel and answered our many questions. He gave us the history of the hotel and then after the tour he sat down with us and talked us through the various wedding packages. It later turned out that this member of staff was the General Manager, Sam Goss!
This exceptional service made a real impression on us and no other venue we looked at came close. Moor Hall is set in a stunning location and the sunken garden is breathtakingly beautiful. The room was large enough for a big wedding but could also host smaller weddings by using the partitioning doors.”
Tell us a little about your love story
“Warren proposed when we were on holiday in Tenerife December 2015. It was the last night of our holiday and he got down on one knee on the hotel balcony. It was a well kept secret – as my uncle had already made my engagement ring and Warren had asked my parents for permission beforehand. We both live in Birmingham and have been together for five years. We have lived together for four.”
What was your favourite part of your wedding day?
“I loved most things so I can’t single anything out. It went so quickly though! We loved the fact that everybody was having such a good time; we had put so much thought and time into planning the wedding we just wanted it to be perfect and a memorable day for everybody.”
Where did you get your inspiration?
“I found inspiration on Pinterest and following various venues on social media for ideas on how rooms could be set up.”
Tell us about your room set up and your meal?
“We had a 1pm wedding at the church then headed to Moor Hall for 2.30pm. We were whisked away for photographs as soon as we arrived so didn’t get to see the room set up until about 4pm and it was breathtaking!
A couple of months before the wedding so we had picked what we wanted to eat although it was difficult! We opted for the Thai fishcakes to start, champagne sorbet as a palate cleanser, garlic chicken and potatoes for main, then lemon meringue pie for dessert. We couldn’t believe the level of service we received during the meal - it was second to none! The food was also amazing. We had some guests with tricky requests – some of our guests were vegans and some didn’t like this or that and everything was taken care of with no issues at all.”
Is there anything you would change?
“Everyone keeps telling me how much they enjoyed the evening buffet and the desserts along with the sweet cart and chocolate fountain. Unfortunately neither of us got to taste anything.
