The History of Afternoon Tea
"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea”…..Henry James.
Afternoon Tea was first introduced in England in 1840 by the Duchess of Bedford, who found herself peckish in the long gap between breakfast and dinner. She started to invite her friends to enjoy tea and "a light refreshment" in her rooms at Woburn Abbey and continued the practice upon returning to London.
