After falling for each other over a shared love of cats, nurse Jo, 29, and paramedic Andy, 27, from Kingsbury, North Warwickshire, had a purr-fect autumnal wedding at Moor Hall.
Why did you choose Moor Hall as your venue?
Choosing Moor Hall Hotel & Spa was easy, as early on in our relationship we came for a spa day and we just loved it. As soon as we got engaged, Moor Hall was top of our list of venues. We attended the Wedding Open Day to see the beautiful Charter Suite where we met the really friendly and professional staff. This confirmed we wanted to book our wedding at Moor Hall. Also the value for money was unbelievable! We opted for the all-inclusive silver package and could not have wished for any more, as the day was perfect. When we tell our friends and family the total cost they cannot believe everything that was included.
How did you meet?
We met at work where we developed a friendship through our mutual love of our new kittens. We were good friends for about a year and then finally went on our first date, that’s after lots of encouragement from our friends and family to just “go for it!”
Tell us a little about the proposal.
We usually end up working all of Christmas so we decided to go away the week before to celebrate Christmas Day. We went to a luxury log cabin in Scotland with a hot tub. I cooked us a traditional Christmas dinner and Andy proposed to me then. We had been walking all day amongst the beautiful scenery and he had carried the ring with him, just waiting for the right moment. It was perfect!
What inspired you as you planned the wedding?
Andy’s suit was the basis for the whole wedding colour scheme. He found a lovely navy and blush wedding suit on Pinterest and had a similar one made by Neashams Personal Tailoring. We wanted a traditional, elegant day with hints of our personality throughout. We had an ivory, blue, blush and lilac colour theme and added personal touches like a nurse, paramedic and cat wedding cake topper and Star Wars table names and table plan. My mum ordered us personalised sweet bags and confetti cones. Our party favours were charity pins from Crohn’s and Colitis UK, a charity that means a lot to both our families.
What did you love most about the day?
There are so many things! We enjoyed the whole day at Moor Hall Hotel & Spa with both our Ceremony and Reception in the Charter Suite, which looked magical with the twinkling fairy lights. There were lots of standout moments but we particularly loved the surprise transport arranged by our families; I had a horse and carriage and Andy had the Italian Job minis. We were lucky with the weather and the fact that it was a beautiful autumnal day meant that we could all spread out and really make the most of the hotel’s beautiful grounds. Every part of our day was exactly as we planned but we were stunned when we saw the Charter Suite for the first time and it was great to see how beautifully it all came together on the day. We just loved having all our friends and family celebrating with us.
Do you remember it all or did it all go too quickly?
Although the day did go quickly we really tried to take a step back and take it all in can, so we can remember all the individual parts of the day such as getting ready, the ceremony, and welcoming our evening guests. During the evening we went for a walk throughout the grounds to have some time together and reflect. One moment that will stay with us is after the wedding a few guests were outside on the lawn and as we said our goodbyes, the sky was crystal clear and full of stars.
Tell us about the food! What did you choose and did you and your guests love it?
We had so many compliments from our guests about the food and the wedding team was really accommodating to our family members who have allergies or dietary requirements. For the wedding breakfast we had chicken liver and smoked paprika parfait followed by leek and potato soup. The main course was herb encrusted rack and braised shoulder of lamb topped off with lemon tart for pudding. Andy was delighted as he got two lemon tarts! For the evening we had a finger buffet and a chocolate fountain which was a hit with the children. Everybody was certainly very full!
Is there anything else you would like to add?
The hotel is just beautiful and our bridal suite was gorgeous. We would like to thank all of the staff involved in making our day so special as they went above and beyond to make sure we had a perfect day and they were all so friendly and accommodating to our friends and family. Hugh ran things on the day and he was outstanding; he kept us calm, made sure we always had some bubbly and ensured everything all went as planned. Sam, the wedding planner, was great to work with during the build-up and helped us plan the day. She was always on hand to answer any of our questions; she even came to see us the day after to congratulate us and make sure it all went perfectly. It’s these personal touches that make Moor Hall a stand out wedding venue and we would recommend the hotel to anyone looking for a venue.
