Booking Your Wedding FAQs

How far in advance can I book Moor Hall Hotel & Spa as a wedding venue?
Anytime! We can take bookings for years in advance. However, we might not be able to provide quotes if our prices have not been finalised yet. We usually have prices set for up to 3 years in advance. So, if you are looking to set a date further than 3 years in the future, we can secure your date and take a deposit and then get in touch when the prices are released.

I want to get married soon! What’s the quickest I can do this?
You have to give notice which needs to be given 4 weeks before a wedding date. So, no quicker than 4 weeks. However, churches can sometimes grant quick services under special reasons. As a venue, if we have the date free, we can accommodation weddings within a week or so notice – we have done so before!

When do I pay the deposit and how much is it?
We provisionally hold your wedding date for 2 weeks after you book it. Then after the 2 weeks the £1,000 deposit is needed to secure the date. If this isn’t paid then we release the date.

When is the next payment due?
The next payment in is an interim payment of £2,000 which is due 7 months prior to your wedding.

When do I pay the full balance?
The full balance for your wedding is due 6 weeks prior to your wedding day.

If I have money saved up, can I chip away at the balance as and when?
Of course. Whatever money paid to the hotel goes towards the interim payment at 7 months prior or final balance at 6 weeks prior.

How do I pay?
You can pay over the phone, or by BACS transfer or come in to the hotel to pay with cash.

Civil Ceremony FAQs

I want a Civil Ceremony at Moor Hall. Who books the Registrar?
You, as the couple. When you make a booking at the hotel we issue you with the initial form to give to the Registrar. It is your responsibly to book this with Birmingham Register Office.

What’s the best time of day to have a Civil Ceremony?
We recommend your civil ceremony is at 2pm. If you are having a church service, we recommend it for 12pm.

Where do I have my interview with the Registrar?
We book a private meeting room for you.

I want an outdoor ceremony in the Sunken Garden. How do I book this?
Let us know when you book you would like this option. It is an extra cost for us to set up.

What happens if I book an outdoor ceremony and it rains?
We always set the Charter Suite up for a civil ceremony too with your booking as a back-up. The final decision whether the ceremony goes ahead outdoors is the Registrars.

How many guests can I have for my civil ceremony?
Our Charter Suite and Sunken Garden can hold up to 250 people for the civil ceremony. However, we can only accommodate up to 180 for the wedding reception, so we usually advise to keep to this maximum number.

Where will my guests meet before the ceremony or reception?
The Charter Suite has its own reception. We recommend you let your guests know to park or be dropped off in the back car park as it’s easier to get to the Charter Bar from here. Guests can wait in this stylish area or along the conservatory until the ceremony time.

Wedding Reception FAQs

I am arriving at Moor Hall in a wedding car. Where will this drop me off?
If the weather is dry, the car can pull on to the front lawn for photos. Otherwise, we suggest the main reception area. The fountain makes a great backdrop for photos too or the Spa entrance with its stained-glass windows.

Where do I get ready on the morning of my wedding?
We have a beautiful four poster suite called the Wedding Preparation Room which sleeps up to 4 guests. It also has an adjoining twin room so is perfect for the bridal party to use the night before so you can get ready together on the morning of your wedding. The room has lots of dressing table space with mirrors and plugs. If you would like to book this then please let us know. It is chargeable but at a reduced rate.

How many guests can I have for the wedding reception?
We can accommodate up to 180 guests for the wedding reception in our Charter Suite. We have other rooms too for smaller weddings. Our minimum numbers are 70 adult daytime guests on Fridays, 80 adult daytime guests on Saturdays and 60 adult daytime guests on Sundays.

What’s the best time for the wedding breakfast?
We recommend no later than 4pm for your sit-down meal. We then suggest your first dance and cake cutting at 8pm and your evening buffet served at 8pm.

Will my wedding be private? What about other guests at the hotel?
We do not offer exclusivity at the hotel. However, with the Charter Suite having its own bar and reception area we have never had the public ‘interfering’ with weddings! Your guests will be allocated rooms on this side of the hotel too.

Does the hotel provide centre pieces for the tables?
Yes, we have beautiful martini vases or elegant tall vases filled with silk flowers at no cost. We also include white table cloths, white linen napkins and cutlery and chairs. If you would like chair covers with sashes or other center pieces, we recommend you contact our preferred wedding suppliers (see below).

What about venue décor, flowers, cakes and other wedding suppliers?
We work with a number of preferred suppliers. Once a deposit is paid, we send the supplier list over to you. You are not required to use our preferred suppliers – they are companies that know our hotel well and we recommend from previous weddings for excellent service.

Can I do my own catering?
Yes, we do work with outside caterers for cuisines we can't cater for in our kitchens. To use your own cater, they would have to meet with our Head Chef and provide certifications.

Can I bring my own alcohol?
No. We have a huge wine list and range of drinks available. If there is something specific you would like for the day we can look to order and supply it for you.

Can I opt for a buffet and not a sit-down meal?
Yes, we can tweak our packages so they offer what you want from the day. Please note however, this option is only available on selected dates.

I want something a bit different – i.e. a bouncy castle, fire eaters, Scottish dancers etc. Is this possible?
Of course. We do sometimes have to check with management regarding to set up and safety but will always try our hardest to accommodate all your wedding plans.

How late does the bar stay open?
The Charter Bar closes at 12am and disco at 12.30am. If your guests are staying at the hotel then the Lounge Bar can stay open until 2am.

Can my guests get a discount on staying at the hotel?
We have 83 bedrooms in total and when a wedding is booked, we hold 20 rooms for your guests which are available at a discounted rate. If these have not sold 6 weeks prior to your wedding date then we release them to the general public.

Can we have a private breakfast the next day?
Yes of course. We do stipulate the time of 9am.

Are dogs allowed in the hotel?
Dogs are permitted outside the hotel for photos only and any mess needs to be cleared and taken away! Only guide dogs are allowed in the hotel.
