Liz and Andrew had been together for just over four years when they married in July 2017. They met at the Actress and Bishop in Birmingham city centre and love blossomed from there.

Tell us how Andrew proposed?

Andy proposed to me on the evening of Christmas Day in 2015, in front of the Christmas tree. It was a complete surprise and is one of my most treasured memories. After spending the day apart at our respective parents’ houses, he welcomed me home to a magical surprise by writing ‘marry me’ in candles and decorating the lounge with pink heart balloons. I cried for what felt like 10 minutes!

Why did you choose Moor Hall as your wedding venue?

I visited the first time with my mum and mother-in-law to be and I knew straight away that it was where I wanted to marry Andy. After a day of visiting other venues, Andy said that Moor Hall was his favourite, too, and he suggested we return to book it as soon as possible. It was the perfect setting and had everything we wanted: the beautiful grounds and the elegant Charter Suite, not to mention the most amazing and friendly staff. It also meant that our nearest and dearest, plus out-of-town guests, could stay overnight.

What was your most cherished memory of the day?

I just couldn’t pick one memory as there are so many! But if I really had to choose, it would be the moment I saw Andy as I walked down the aisle. He also surprised me during our first dance by sitting me on a chair in the middle of the dance floor and singing along to our chosen song, “Everything” by Michael Bublé.  We wanted everyone to have fun on the day so it was great to see so many of our adult guests enjoying the bouncy castle, which we originally booked just to keep the children happy!

What was your inspiration for your wedding theme/style?

When I started wedding planning, I found it extremely difficult to choose a particular theme. With social media and sites like Pinterest there are just so many ideas out there – it was overwhelming. But as soon as we chose Moor Hall, everything just started to fall into place. I wanted to enhance the beauty of the Charter Suite while keeping our summer wedding theme, so we decided upon an array of pinks, sage and champagne. Andy and I chose everything together, from the cake to the floral bouquets and the table arrangements.

Tell me about the food! What did you choose and did you and your guests love it?

We chose confit duck leg starter, raspberry sorbet, 24-hour braised blade of beef and chocolate fudge brownie.  All I can say it that our guests loved the food and many commented on how delicious it was! The same was also said for the evening buffet but unfortunately I didn’t get chance to try any it for myself; I was too busy dancing!

Would you recommend Moor Hall Hotel for couples planning to marry?

Unreservedly! I cannot thank the staff at Moor Hall enough for the exceptional service: it was everything that we wanted and the fact that we had sunshine all day only made it even better. Anyone thinking of getting married here should not miss an opportunity to visit. We have been to Moor Hall since our wedding and it’s lovely as the staff remember us and say hello.  We will always treasure our memories and look forward to visiting Moor Hall again soon.
