Our Golden Jubilee Year
We are very proud to have celebrated our 50th year of ownership of Moor Hall in 2011.
Of course, things have changed dramatically over the last five decades. From the humble beginnings of 17 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms in 1961, Moor Hall has developed to its present complex of 82 bedrooms, 8 conference rooms and a leisure centre. The heady days of the 60s with discos and flower power parties gave way in the 70s to sensible development of bedrooms with conference facilities. Then the 80s saw a further increase in the bedroom stock and more conference rooms, followed in the 90s by the creation of a leisure centre. The new millennium brought 4 stars and more recently a concentration on improving our carbon footprint and becoming a more environmentally friendly business.
As you take a look at our website pages you will see that there are lots of reasons for you to visit Moor Hall, and we look forward to welcoming you.
With best wishes
Our chosen charities for 2011
Over the last 10 years we have raised over £50,000 for various charities including the Variety Club West Midlands, the Teenage Cancer Trust and Breast Cancer Research.
In 2011 we supported three local charities that are very close to our hearts:
St Giles Hospice
St Giles Hospice in Sutton Coldfield and Whittington, near Lichfield, offers specialist care for patients with cancer and other serious illnesses and support for their family and helpers.
The Cancer Support Centre, Sutton Coldfield
The Cancer Support Centre in Midland Drive, Sutton Coldfield, provides a place of sanctuary for all those affected by cancer by offering information, support and free Complementary therapies.
Sutton Support Services
Sutton Support Services is an umbrella organisation which runs leisure and personal development programmes for adults with learning and physical disabilities.
To raise money for these very worthwhile causes we added an optional 50p to every bill we issued for accommodation, conferences and events during 2011. We also raised money through our annual inter-company football match in spring 2011 and we donated £5 from the sale of each Ascot Ladies Day Lunch ticket and £5 from each Golden Spa Day sold, to our charity fund. We are very proud to have raised over £10,000 during the year!
50 years of family ownership
Since Michael Webb purchased Moor Hall in 1961, it has grown from a 17 bedroomed Residential Club to the 82 bedroomed four star country house hotel we all know and love.
We have put together a timeline to show how Moor Hall has developed over the last 50 years which includes some things that we have done and achieved that you may not know about!

50th anniversary photo competition
In the summer 2010 edition of our group newsletter we featured a 50th anniversary photo competition with the prize of an overnight stay for two and a bottle of commemorative champagne.
We received a fabulous range of photos from you, and the winner of the competition was Mrs Edgar who sent us a lovely picture of her and her grandma on her wedding day in August 2006.
