Moor Hall’s latest green initiative creates a buzz
|
Moor Hall Hotel & Spa is now producing its own honey as part of the hotel’s commitment to using local produce and to the environment. Located just a quarter of a mile from the hotel, the bees will be regular visitors to the hotel’s gardens, and subject to weather conditions, the four Moor Hall hives are expected to produce up to 55kg of honey each year, which is enough to fill over 100 jars. The hives are each home to 60,000 bees and are managed by Bernard Diaper, Apiary Manager for Sutton Coldfield Beekeepers Association, who has been keeping bees for almost 70 years. “As gold award holders from the Green Tourism Business scheme we are always looking for ways to enhance our environmental policy, so we are delighted to now have locally produced honey for our guests to enjoy at breakfast” commented Tony Hill, General Manager. “Visitors to the hotel will also be able to purchase jars of honey so that they will be able to take a taste of the West Midlands home with them!”
